First Game at Inclusion Field To Launch Partnership Between YMCA, Morgan’s Wonderland Sports

WHO: Gordon Hartman, founder of The Gordon Hartman Family Foundation, which underwrites projects beneficial to the special-needs community; Sandy Morander, YMCA of Greater San Antonio president and CEO; young YMCA baseball players with and without disabilities.

WHAT: First baseball game at Inclusion Field, the YMCA’s first fully-accessible sports facility in Greater San Antonio.  The game also will launch the new Inclusive Sports Program between the Y and new Morgan’s Wonderland Sports complex for athletes with and without special needs.  Inclusion Field was made possible through financial support from The Gordon Hartman Family Foundation.

WHEN: 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020.

WHERE: Mays Family YMCA at Stone Oak, 21654 Blanco Road (2.5 miles north of Loop 1604).     

WHY: To mark the beginning of the Inclusive Sports Program.  Long-term plans call for inclusive teams from Morgan’s Wonderland Sports to play in YMCA sports leagues.

ETC.:  Inclusion Field, which can host both baseball and softball games, features an accessible synthetic turf infield, a natural grass outfield, a movable pitcher’s mound to accommodate various age groups and three different lengths of base paths, also for different age groups.
