Toyota Announces Sponsorship of Morgan’s Wonderland!

August 28, 2012 – Toyota announced its presenting sponsorship of Morgan’s Wonderland as well as the new San Antonio Scorpions soccer and special-events stadium.

As presenting sponsor, Toyota will provide major financial support for the 25-acre theme park.

Presenting sponsorship of Scorpions stadium will include naming the facility as Toyota Field. As a member of the North American Soccer League (NASL), which is one step removed from Major League Soccer, the Scorpions are the only team in professional sports to be organized for the expressed purpose of supporting a non-profit such as Morgan’s Wonderland that seeks to help those with special needs.

Soccer For A Cause

By way of brief introduction, my name is Michael Hitchcock (but everyone calls me Hitch) and I’m the President of the San Antonio Scorpions.  I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you all of the exciting updates of Soccer For A Cause.

While you probably know that Gordon Hartman owns the San Antonio Scorpions (a 2012 expansion North American Soccer League (NASL) professional soccer team in the highest division below Major League Soccer) and may have heard that the mission of the San Antonio Scorpions is to help provide a sustaining revenue source to Morgan’s Wonderland.

You see, all the net proceeds from STAR Soccer Complex, the San Antonio Scorpions (starting in 2012) and Scorpions Community Stadium (a multipurpose stadium that will open in 2013) will go to Morgan’s Wonderland to help the park maintain its quality as a world-class park so special needs individuals can continue to enjoy this amazing place for free.  So every time someone buys a Scorpions t-shirt or hat; orreserves a season ticket or a ticket to attend a game; or a team plays at STAR Soccer Complex; or a community-minded company sponsors the Scorpions and Soccer For a Cause, they’re also supporting Morgan’s Wonderland.

This is the first time in the world of sports that a team has dedicated 100% of the net proceeds to a non-profit cause, like Morgan’s Wonderland.  I’m humbled that Gordon Hartman has entrusted his vision to me and my talented team of executives to make sure we realize the potential of Soccer For A Cause by running a good, profitable operation.

From the start, we’ve shared with the community that this is their team.  Through our campaign “Our San Antonio… Our Team…”  thousands of fans in the community have helped us pick the name of the team, designed the logo, voted for their favorite logo (which I think looks great) and now the fans have helped us select our NIKE jersey that the team will wear for the 2012 NASL season.

On Thursday, June 2nd 6-8pm; we’re hosting a media event & jersey unveiling party at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk.  It’s a free event to the public, you’re invited to join us.  You can also RSVP at our website.  It’s guaranteed to be a great event… I know have a President’s Blog at the Scorpions website so you can check in every day for updates about the Scorpions and Soccer For A Cause.

On a personal note, my first visit to Morgan’s Wonderland was a life changing experience for me (like thousands of others).  And I’m committed to doing everything that I can to support the cause and help Morgan’s Wonderland.

If you’re interested in supporting Soccer For A Cause; you can reserve merchandise & season seats at our website with all net proceeds going to Morgan’s Wonderland.  Thanks for taking the time to read my blogand learn a little more about the San Antonio Scorpions and Soccer For A Cause.

See you soon.

Sincerely,
Hitch

Wondrous things are happening at Morgan’s Wonderland

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve just embarked on our second season at Morgan’s Wonderland.  We had a phenomenal inaugural year in 2010, but we’re out to do even better in 2011.  As you’ll recall, we did a soft opening for the park in March and held our grand opening celebration in April.  All in all, we welcomed more than 100,000 guests in 2010 from 47 states and 13 countries.

Thank you so much for your interest in and support for our unique park.  And may I also ask you a big favor?  Help us spread the word about Morgan’s Wonderland so those with special needs near and far can enjoy themselves in a safe, inclusive, colorful environment with family, friends and others who can quickly become new friends.

During the off-season, we made some significant improvements to Morgan’s Wonderland, thanks to the constructive feedback we received from guests.  For example, we’ve added a huge shade structure just inside the entrance so guests can become better organized for their day in the park instead of getting baked by the sun.  Similarly, we’ve expanded the seating area and added significant amounts of shade at The Picnic Place where you can relax and enjoy a bite to eat.

As for things to eat, our guests said they wanted a wider variety of options, so our new Morgan’s Munchies near The Picnic Place offers hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, popcorn, frozen lemonade and other park fare.  Of course, you can still bring your own food to the park if you so desire.

Speaking of additions to the park, take a look at www.MorgansWonderland.com to learn more about our new fitness and education programs.  Also, be a regular visitor to www.SanAntonioScorpions.com to learn how professional soccer promises to help Morgan’s Wonderland expand its programs and assistance to the special-needs community.

What keeps us moving forward with energy and passion is the phenomenal feedback we receive from guests.  Oftentimes the theme of that feedback can be summarized in the song title, “I Had the Time of My Life!”  It’s gratifying to know Morgan’s Wonderland is indeed making a positive difference in so many lives.

So, again, won’t you help us?  Please become familiar with all the great things Morgan’s Wonderland has to offer, share that knowledge with family and friends, and visit whenever you can!
